There has always been a desire to know the true God. Some people try to do this through meditation, mysticism and other means. But man is not able to really know God through his own efforts. However, God does want humans to know Him. He personally met with his servants in the early days and now there are other ways we can get to know Him.
What we as humans think we know about God is merely speculation. Since we are sinful in nature our knowledge of God is corrupted. Man-made religion can never depict who God really is.
We can know God through his creation. Nature and the heavens, sun, stars, the moon, give us an indication of how powerful and magnificent God really is. Once man has a yearning desire to really know God, God will make Himself available to him. However, this is still not enough for man to really know God, and receive salvation.
Getting to know God and how to receive salvation is found in the bible. The bible is the only book that teaches God, Jesus Christ, Salvation and faith. God gave divine revelation to certain people mentioned in the bible such as Abraham, Moses and other prophets, as well as the Apostles. No one else outside of the Bible can claim divine revelation.
There is a belief that all religions will eventually lead to salvation. There are books published by these other religions that claim to be divinely inspired and the information we need to help us to be saved can be found in them as well as the bible.
The bible clearly states that salvation can only be found through Jesus Christ.
“There is salvation in no-one else! There is no other name in all heaven for people to call on to save them.” Acts 4:12
There are many passages in the Bible that confirm it is the only divinely inspired word of God.
We are also warned through the Bible that we should have no other God than the Creator God. It is the very first commandment.
“Do not worship any other gods beside me.” Exodus 20:3
Once we make the mistake of accommodating other religions by accepting their gods we commit sin. There is only one Lord Jesus Christ.
“According to some people, there are many so-called gods and many lords, both in heaven and on earth. But we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we exist for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life.” I Corinthians 8:5-6
