As the Director Coordinator of an Online Think Tank, often I am able to view research and studies in advance of the public. One interesting research project, which took the author, William Sheridan, 30 years to create is called; The Human Knowledge Mind Map. In this work Mr. Sheridan explains the methodology and philosophy of critical thinking and then he has a warning;
“I declare that I am not responsible for motivating people to want to think.”
In other words The Human Knowledge Mind Map teaches you a method of thinking and the reason behind it, but what you think is up to you. In other words you have a brain, use it and realize you are responsible for how you use it. Yes, I had a good laugh on that one, it goes along with my leading a horse to water motif, when discussing other forms of education and instruction from Distance Learning to Training Methodologies.
The Human Knowledge Mind Map is simple to use once you get the hang of it. But you really want to use it and practice with it to get proficient and of course educators to teach it will not want to make it any more difficult than it is to teach.

Pretty simple as you can see from the Page 7 diagram. Why is simplicity needed? Well consider that students have spent years formatting their brains to rote memorization strategies in learning and negative biofeedback telling them selves they are stupid or cannot think. For instance those things the Christians say; God is so infinite that you could not possibly understand? If you keep telling yourself that you will eventually come to believe it and accept it into your belief system.
Also consider if a student does not answer the right number on the multiple choice question test then they are penalized for not memorizing something. So, yes the author of The Human Knowledge MindMap is not responsible to make people think. It would be great however it we could wake up another 8% to 18% population to start thinking, as only 2% think now.
The rest are simply not interested. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.
