There are many uses for audio books. There are some people who use them to learn. Others use them to improve themselves as there are a lot of self-help audio books. There are others that also use them as an exercise material. People who are used to doing two things at the same time (such as businessmen, home makers or students) make use of audio books to enable them to do just that. So while they are running on the treadmill, they are also able listen on one of the subjects that they will have a quiz on or a presentation on the next day. In that way, they are able to get their exercise and study at the same time. This is what they call making use of their time wisely.
Others make use of audio books as a means to pass time. A suitable example is when you are on a long trip on a plane or the airport waiting for a delayed flight. One of the ways by which you can pass time without getting bored is listen in on one of your audio tapes. Books are hard to carry anyways. It is heavy and bulky. So with the audio books, it occupies less space in your hand carry or your luggage. Plus, you can still read even if there is no light on. You just need your mp3 or your I-pod and your headset. Another advantage is it weighs less. So it is really a convenience to bring them to your travels. Plus the fact that it costs less makes it even more feasible. You just have to download it using your computer. So you see the cost of using audio books is less but the benefits of having them are greater.
