Thanksgiving is a special day for giving thanks, a day which is uniquely American and celebrated nowhere else. It’s a time for reflecting on important values. It’s a day when we give thanks for food and hospitality, and also for important things such as magazines which brighten our daily lives throughout the year.
The first Thanksgiving was a feast to which the Pilgrims invited Native Americans and shared the plentiful food of their first successful harvest in the New Land. This tradition of sharing between neighbors at Thanksgiving has continued to the present day. In modern times, family and friends usually gather for a turkey dinner, and long hours of conversation and togetherness.
Magazines are an important part of Thanksgiving and the entire holiday season because they serve a dual role: First, magazines allow family and friends to bond together in shared enjoyment of a memorable article or picture, and thereby enrich their time together.
Yet, magazines also offer the opposite advantage, too; during lulls in conversation, Thanksgiving guests invariably look for a magazine to pass time before the next family moment. And, as everyone knows, during the holiday season a magazine subscription is the easiest gift, both to give and to receive. Mothers can find magazines with topics on how to decorate and make the best thanksgiving dinners, and fathers can find the best hunting tips to share on that dinner. Regardless of what your role is on thanksgiving, there is always something to help you keep it alive.
So, as we look forward to Thanksgiving and the holiday season, we remember one more reason to give thanks… Magazines!
