Say Daddy by Michael Shoulders

Even though Valentine’s Day has passed and we ate our last heart-shaped candies, we shouldn’t forget or take for granted the ones we love. Every day should be filled with XOXOXO’s. What better way to show our little ones that we love them than by cuddling up and reading a good book together? That’s probably what I love best about children’s books. The stories are wonderful, the illustrations are fun, but the company tops it all. There’s something about that bond you create when you read-aloud to someone you love.

Now this family knows the bond that’s created when you read-aloud with someone you love! Say Daddy! is a children’s picture book about a close-knit bear family who loves to read. When a new baby bear joins the family, Mother shares a book about love, while Brother reads a tale about friendship. Aunt and Uncle read about joyful adventures, and Daddy reads a book about promises and dreams. Daddy bear tries to get the little bear to say “Daddy” for his first word, but whose name will the baby say first?

What’s great about this book is that everyone in the family can’t wait to have the newest member’s affection and attention. And they do it by sharing a book. Each member is able to share a different kind of story. The book not only encourages reading, but encourages families to teach their children about the love of reading. In the end, the baby learns about books and love!
